Jerusalem was also expected to reach upwards of 28 degrees, with the springtime haze of hot dusty winds blowing up from North Africa and the Arabian peninsula.

The hotter-than-average temperatures will continue on Sunday morning and into the early afternoon, when cool winds will chill the nation and humidity will rise.

By Monday, there will be a noticeable drop in temperatures, which will lower to seasonal averages.

For Saturday: Temperatures will be 31 degrees Centigrade in the Golan Heights, 27 in the Galilee mountains, 30 Tel Aviv, 27 in Ashdod, 35 in Beersheba, 29 in Mitzpe Ramon, 37 in the Dead Sea region, and 36 degrees in Eilat.
