Law enforcement efforts must be increased in minority communities across the country, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told the weekly cabinet meeting on Sunday.
In his remarks, Netanyahu addressed the widely held contention that police are less active in fighting crime within minority communities, saying “there is a sense among the public that the level of enforcement among these populations is much less. I am committed to changing this. I demand equal enforcement in all parts of the State of Israel.”
Netanyahu also called on Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch to devise a plan to equalize the level of law enforcement across Israeli society.
During the meeting, Police Insp.-Gen. Yohanan Danino said there had been a 2.7 percent drop in the overall crime rate.
