Police were searching for the driver of an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) which struck two teenage girls before fleeing the scene on Friday near Kibbutz Givat Brenner, south of Rehovot.
MDA paramedics evacuated the victims, both in moderate condition, to Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot. Police said the victims were a 15-year-old and a 19-year-old.
Police suspect that the ATV driver purposely targeted the victims after they made comments about the way he was driving. The two teenage girls were part of a group who was jogging in the area. Israeli media quoted witnesses as saying the ATV was driving wildly and at great speed in an open field.
When the group of joggers called out to him to slow down, he sped up, striking the two girls with the ATV.
Police called to the scene immediately began searching the area for the suspect. They called on the driver to turn himself in, and requested that anyone with information on his whereabouts contact them.
