Police in the Sharon subdistrict announced Thursday that they had arrested a 36-year-old man who confessed to assaulting 16 different females, including several minors, in a series of daytime attacks in moshavs across the Sharon and Tel Aviv area.
Police said the man was brought in on Wednesday on suspicion of being linked to a series of complaints issued by young women in the Sharon area, who told police about a man who exposed himself to them while they were jogging or walking in their moshav. In a few cases the man also groped the girls, before fleeing in his car, police said.
While under interrogation, the man began to rattle off a series of incidents he carried out in recent weeks, eventually totaling 16 victims. One of those involves an underage girl who he is suspected of having attempted to rape while she was out for a jog on her moshav.
After receiving the complaints, a few weeks ago police launched a special investigative team which they said Thursday found the suspect finally this week.
On Thursday that man was ordered kept in custody until Thursday
Police have asked the public to come forward if they know of other cases that may be linked to the man.
