J'lem: Left-wing activists rally against racism

Over 1,500 pack Zion Square in the capital at demonstration targeted at policies of Lieberman under banner "ashamed of racism."

About 1,500 left-wing activists on Saturday held a demonstration at Zion Square in Jerusalem, under the banner of the slogan "ashamed of racism."
Participants were protesting against "the wave of racism sweeping the country and Israeli society" and stressed that the demonstration was another step they were taking against the policies of Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman.

The event was attended by members of the youth movement "Ha Shomer HaTzair" and activists from the Labor Party, Peace Now and Meretz.
Protesters at the rally held sings saying, among other things, "fight racism - keep Zionism" and "fight against the in-the-dark government."
