2 IDF officers killed in crash near Rishon Lezion

2 additional officers injured when car flips and hits truck; four officers were en route to Ashdod naval base where they served.

Two people killed in a car accident at the Holot interchange on Route 4 near Rishon Lezion overnight Tuesday were IDF officers, the IDF Spokesman’s Office revealed Wednesday morning. The IDF identified the victims as Capt.
Omri Shachar, 25, from Kfar Saba and Lt. Rafael Bublil, 22 from Ramat Gan.
Two additional officers were injured, one seriously and one lightly, in the incident, which the IDF called a military car accident.
MDA paramedics treated the injured on the scene before evacuating them to Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer for further treatment. The families of the officers were informed of the accident.
According to Army Radio, the four officers were returning to their base in Ashdod from Tel Aviv when the driver lost control of the vehicle for reasons that remain unclear, causing the car to flip over and strike a truck.
Military Police inspectors opened an investigation into the incident.
