The 35-year-old woman involved in an incident of
group sex in broad daylight at a Tel Aviv beach denied Thursday that she was forced into the situation.
Speaking with Channel 2 News, the woman, whose name was withheld, said that she was under the influence of vodka when the incident, which involved said woman and a number of young men, occurred.
The woman was questioned Thursday evening by investigators, who would
decide following the interrogation whether to keep her in custody.
In addition to detaining the woman involved, police also questioned a total of 8 youths over the event. Police said only one of the youths may be charged with carrying out an indecent act in public, Army Radio reported.
Despite the large number of witnesses the day of the incident, police only received one emergency phone call, which officers revealed had later been erased. Two weeks passed before Israeli media picked up on the story, the publication of which pushed Tel Aviv police to investigate both the incident and its own officers' conduct surrounding the event.
While bystanders claimed the "group sex" went unnoticed by law officials, the woman involved told Channel 2 news that police had approached her while she was in the water, where photos obtained by the news station showed that she was naked and engaging in sexual acts with a few different men.
"The police came up to me and asked if everything was okay," she said. "I said yes."
The woman, who reportedly receives psychiatric care, said police never contacted her following the day's events.
Asked whether she regretted what she had done, the woman answered: "No."
