The Haifa District Attorney filed an indictment on Sunday, charging a 22-
year-old Baka al-Gharbiya resident with murdering a local man by shooting him in
the head last month.
According to the indictment, Mufid Abu Moch became
enraged when his former classmate, Nahid Abu Moch, drove past his house on April
13, playing loud music and behaving in a wild manner.
Mufid and his
friend, Muhammad Abu Moch, decided to arrange a meeting with Nahid where they
would beat him up, the indictment charges. Allegedly, the two men
telephoned Nahid and arranged to meet him at a local coffee
shop.
However, the indictment said, as he and Muhammad set off to the
coffee shop, Mufid decided to murder Nahid, and armed himself with a handgun and
ammunition – without letting Muhammad know.
Immediately Nahid arrived at
the coffee shop with two other men, he and Muhammad began to fight, the
indictment alleges.
At this point, Mufid allegedly pulled out his gun and
began to shoot at Nahid and his two friends standing near the fracas, intending
to seriously injure them.
Immediately afterwards, Mufid smashed Nahid
over the head with the butt of his handgun, then put the muzzle against Nahid’s
neck and fired a single shot, intending to murder him, the indictment
said.
The bullet entered Nahid’s brain, and he died
immediately.
Mufid then allegedly got into Muhammad’s car, and the two
drove off.
The Haifa district attorney filed a separate indictment
against Muhammad, charging him with weapons offenses, assisting a felony after
the fact and assault in aggravated circumstances.
