Three teenagers are under arrest on suspicion of stabbing and critically
wounding a waiter at a Rishon Lezion cafe on Thursday.
Police said the
boys, aged 15 and 16, who were allegedly intoxicated, began rioting at the cafe
and damaging property.
Cafe staff then asked them to leave. As they
proceeded to make their way out of the premises, one of the waiters allegedly
directed a comment at the boys, prompting a brutal physical assault against
him.
During the attack, one of the youths allegedly produced a knife and
stabbed the waiter.
Paramedics rushed the victim, aged 22, to Assaf
Harofeh Medical Center in Tzrifin, where he was listed in serious
condition.
Police units arrived at the cafe within minutes, found the
youths nearby and arrested them.
Police are concerned over the lethal mix
of binge drinking and knife possession among youths, and have increased patrols
in bar and club areas in an effort to prevent random alcohol-fueled violence,
which is more common in the summer.
