A man allegedly plotting to shoot dead his lawyer was arrested Tuesday after
purchasing a handgun from an undercover police agent.
Detectives at the
Zevulun police station north of Haifa received word that the man, a 47-year-old
resident of Eilat with a criminal record, had taken a decision to shoot his
attorney in the North, after accusing the lawyer of embezzling money from him
during a deal. The lawyer had been hired by the suspect to represent
him.
Police said the man had shown an interest in purchasing a firearm,
adding that the undercover agent was sent to sell him the gun.
“As soon
as he bought the gun, undercover police arrested him,” police spokesman Micky
Rosenfeld said.
A Haifa Magistrate’s Court extended his remand by four
days.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated investigation, two residents of Kafr
Kara in their 20s were arrested by Coastal District police on suspicion of
preparing and hurling bombs in their village in recent months.
Property
sustained some damage in some attacks, while some bombs were discovered before
they went off, police said.
