Several hundred people Friday night staged a "Black Night" protest and march through Tel Aviv's annual "White Night" celebrations, demonstrating against violence employed by police and Tel Aviv municipal clerks against demonstrators at a protest the week before.
Describing the protest as a continuation of the social justice movement, organizer Oren Pasternack told JPostTV that "this time it is a fight about democracy, about our right to demonstrate."
The demonstrators marched from the national theater and down Rothschild Boulevard, the center of last summer's tent protests, stopping at various performance stages along the route to disrupt events. Most performers, however, played along with the protesters and some even led their chants.
