Schneider Children's Medical Center of Israel is not just another hospital. It is a modern child-friendly facility where the young patient's every need is taken into account, from medical treatment and rehabilitation to educational and psychosocial support programs which include family members as well. Located in Petach Tikvah, Schneider Children's opened in 1991 following a major contribution from Irving and the late Helen Schneider of New York, USA. In creating a hospital exclusively for children, Schneider Children's responded to an urgent national need, and is today the leading children's facility in the country. Its unrivalled success lies undoubtedly in its pioneering spirit and progressive approaches where excellence and ethics are synonymous. Vigilant to the latest technologies and techniques, Schneider Children's has spearheaded many firsts in the country such as the first multi-organ transplant in Israel in which a 16-year-old girl received a small intestine, colon, liver, stomach and pancreas; the first implantation of an artificial pulmonary artery valve in children with congenital heart disease, thereby avoiding open-heart operations; and the smallest infant, weighing just 800 grams, to undergo open heart surgery. Schneider Children's receives patients from all over the country and indeed from abroad. In fulfilling its mandate to serve as a bridge to peace in the region, all children, irrespective of origin, are welcomed at the hospital. "Friends of Schneider Children's" is a registered non-profit organization that was founded shortly after the hospital opened in 1992. It was established to assist the medical center in its development and progress through the acquisition of equipment, training of staff, research activities and care programs. Over the years, Friends of Schneider Children's has succeeded in raising funds both in Israel and abroad towards these noble objectives. For online donations please CLICK HERE
