The Finance Ministry’s E-Government online portal has developed a mobile
monitoring system that will enable the public to track election results on
Tuesday from the moment the polls close until tallies are final, the ministry
announced on Monday.
Allowing Israelis to view vote counts in real time,
the system will update numbers every 10 minutes and will allow viewers to
examine voting data in general and in segments based on cities and parties, the
ministry said. Voters can access the portal from all types of smart phones and
tablet devices from the moment voting stations close on election day.
In
addition to the poll tracking application, the office has also launched a second
website that allows voters to quickly determine where exactly they are supposed
to vote. After entering their ID number, voters can immediately receive their
polling addresses, and mobile users will immediately be directed to the
navigation applications on their devices – like Waze, Google Maps or built-in
navigation systems, the ministry explained.
“These mobile-enabled
solutions join a government payment application that was launched not long ago,
as part of an E-Government strategy to providing access to government
information on mobile platforms at any place and time,” said Ofir Ben-Avi,
director of the E-Government program.
For tracking votes, users can visit
www.m.votes-19.gov.il on mobile phones, and www.votes-19.gov.il on their
computers.
