Israeli man seriously wounded by mortar shell in Eshkol regional council

Palestinians fired dozens of rockets and mortars at Israeli towns near Gaza over the weekend.

A 77-year-old resident of the Eshkol regional council was seriously wounded by shrapnel from a Palestinian rocket that was fired from Gaza on Saturday.
The wounded man was rushed to local hospital for treatment.
While fighting in Gaza appears to be winding down, the IDF Home Front command is still urging Israelis in towns near the Gaza frontier to stay near bombproof rooms and shelters.
Magen David Adom first response crews treated four other Israelis for shock over the weekend as well as one baby who suffered a minor head injury during a rocket siren.
Israeli cities and communities near the Gaza border were hit with dozens of rockets and mortars on Saturday. Sirens wailed in the afternoon and evening hours in Ashkelon as well as the Gaza frontier towns.
Palestinians in Gaza launched rockets at Israel's largest population centers in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area early Saturday morning.
Rocket sirens were heard in Tel Aviv, Bnei Brak, Givat Shmuel, Givatayim, Ramat Gan, Givat Hashlosha, Gat, Rimon, Kfar Sirkin, Petah Tikva, and Ra'anana.
Sirens were also sounded in Even Yehuda, Kfar Netter, Bnei Zion, Herzliya, Kfar Shmaryahu, and Hod Hasharon.
Residents in Tel Aviv reported hearing at least two interceptions of the rockets by the Iron Dome anti-missile system.
Minutes later, rocket sirens were activated in Beersheba. The army confirmed that Iron Dome intercepted one rocket over the southern city.
