Israelis 3rd in Helsinki

Gidi Kliger and Eran Sela win their second straight medal at the 470 Class European sailing Championships.

Gidi Kliger and Eran Sela won their second straight medal at the 470 Class European sailing Championships on Friday, finishing in third position in Helsinki, Finland.
Kliger and Sela were in contention to claim the gold ahead of Friday’s medal race, but they could only end the final race of the competition in seventh position and had to settle for a bronze a year after taking a silver in the same event.
Friday’s medal was Kliger’s fourth in his career at the Europeans, with the 31-yearold also having three World Championship medals to his name from his time together with Udi Gal.
Kliger and Gal split up following the 2008 Beijing Olympics after 14 years together, but Kliger has maintained a similarly steady level of success with Sela.
The duo hopes to win the Olympic medal that’s still missing from Kliger’s trophy cabinet, in London next summer.
