Hapoel PT facing 9-point deduction with liquidation

Petah Tikva’s decision means that it will begin the next Premier League season with a nine-point deduction.

After weeks of uncertainty, Hapoel Petah Tikva’s bosses announced on Tuesday that the club will go into liquidation.
Petah Tikva has asked the local District Court that attorney Lior Dagan will be appointed as the liquidator, hoping that it will allow the once illustrious club to embark on a new course and avoid extinction.
Petah Tikva’s decision means that it will begin the next Premier League season with a nine-point deduction, assuming it is still in the top flight after the police wraps up their investigation into match-fixing allegations, which saw club directors Tomer Sinai and Gal Hatzor arrested two weeks ago.
“This is a difficult day for a big club,” CEO Efi Tzafrir said. “But unfortunately we have reached a situation in which we are struggling and I hope that we can save the club with this decision.”
“A nine-point loss will be a real blow, but we would have struggled to avoid relegation in our previous financial situation, so this at least gives us some hope.”
