The Morningside Translations Warriors destroyed Ginot Shomron 18-3 at Gezer
Monday night to improve to 10-2 on the season and solidify their place atop the
modified softball league’s standings.
The Warriors got off to a slow
start before putting up a six-spot in the third inning and then blowing the game
wide open with eight runs in the fifth.
Some sloppy defense kept the game
close, but failing to score with two bases loaded twice, early in the game, took
the wind out of Ginot Shomron sails.
Nossie Jacobovitch led the way
offensively for the Warriors, going 3-for-3 with a homer and five RBI’s. Chaim
Schon led off the fourth with homer, his third game in a row with a long ball
and his sixth homer in the last five games.
Yanky Itzkowitz went 3-for-
3, scoring four times and Simon Pack also collected three hits for the
Warriors.
With the victory, the 2009 champions secured their second
consecutive double-digit winning season with two games still remaining on the
schedule.
