Hopes soared and pulses raced as the teams of the Red & Dr. Murray’s Basketball League battled it out in the first-round of the playoffs, each trying to earn a berth in the quarterfinals.In the first of two heartpounding nail-biters, Seftel beat Hamoshava 54 by the skin of their teeth in overtime. The score was tied at 41-41 at the end of regulation, but Seftel was ultimately able to emerge with the 43-41 OT triumph.In the next thriller, Samuel Adelsberg & Co. star Benjy Ritholtz managed an extraordinary shot to take a one-point lead over Caramel/Waterproofing Experts with only three seconds left in the game.However, Max Feldstein answered with an incredible running jumper at the buzzer, giving Caramel the win, 43-42.In an upset, Avery-Nart defeated MMJ 58-48 to advance to the Elite Eight.Likewise, Café Rimon was victorious over the Quitnesses 67-49, earning themselves a spot in the second round.Golf: Mondays heat up at Ga’ashThe fourth Monday’s Tour tournament was completed this week in extremely harsh conditions at the Ga’ash Golf Club.Employing a combined-scores stableford format for the groups of two, all those who braved the weather were treated to perfectly manicured course that didn’t play too difficult.First place on the day went to Shmuel Almagor and Salo Levy on 74 stabelford points, with Eliezer Peleg and Natan Pulver a distant second, with 69 points.Nearest-to-the-pin prizes, sponsored by the Greenfield restaurant, went to Endy Nemiroff and Yuval Harrary.After four events, leading the overall individual Monday’s Tour points standings is Endy Nemiroff, on 760 points, followed by Shmuel Almagor, with 740 points.Salo Levy is in third place (720 points), with Alon Granot a further 20 points back.Registration for The NATAL tournament continues in the pro shop at the Gash Golf Club.
