Anastasia Gloushkov and Inna Yoffe took a significant step towards booking their place in a third straight Olympics on Sunday, finishing 14th in the synchronized swimming technical duets competition in the World Championships in Shanghai.
Gloushkov and Yoffe needed to end the event among the top-16 to meet the Israeli criteria for next summer’s London Games and did just that with a score of 86.000.
In order to secure their place at the 2012 Games the Israelis will now need to finish among the top 24 in the Olympic trials, something which should be well within their capabilities considering Sunday’s result.
Gloushkov also competed in the technical solo competition on Sunday, advancing to the final and finishing in 10th place with a score of 87.500.
