Shay Doron will make a return to Israeli basketball this winter after signing with defending champion Elitzur Ramle on Sunday.
The 22-year-old guard, who became the first Israeli woman to play in the WNBA after being selected in the draft by the New York Liberty in May, will join Ramle after the season in the US ends in September.
At 15-and-a-half Doron was promoted to Anda Ramat Hasharon's senior squad, but soon after the teenager chose to leave Israel and go to America in order to develop as a player. She joined Christ the King High School in Queens, NY, and played four seasons at Maryland before being drafted this April.

Former New York star Becky Hammon scored 22 points and had seven assists in her first game against her former team.
Hammon, who is the fifth-leading scorer in the WNBA and leads the league in assists, was traded in the offseason after eight years and three All-Star appearances in New York.
She was traded by the Liberty on draft day for Ohio State center Jessica Davenport, the No. 2 overall draft pick by San Antonio (5-4). Davenport had eight points and five rebounds for New York (6-4), which has lost four of five games.
