Israelis Yakov Toumarkin and Gal Nevo each qualified for the next rounds in their respective swimming categories on Wednesday.Toumarkin came in 8th in the Olympic men's swimming 200m backstroke heats with a time of 1:57.33, while Nevo came in 12th in the men's swimming 200m individual medley heats at 1:59.56.On Tuesday, Nevo finished in a respectable 10th place in the 400-meter individual medley in the first day of the swimming and will be expecting to at least reach the semifinal of the 200m IM on Wednesday, the way he did in Beijing four years ago.Toumarkin was bitterly disappointed at failing to reach the semis in the 100m back, finishing in 24th place overall, and will know only a semifinal berth in the 200m back will ensure him sweet memories from the London Games.Later Wednesday, Nufar Edelman will compete in the 5th and 6th races of the women’s Laser Radial in Weymouth after her poor showing on Tuesday. She is in 33rd place overall following two days of competition after finishing her third and fourth races, in 33rd and 34th place, respectively.The third and fourth men's windsurfing race will see Shahar Zubari, who won Israel’s only medal at the Beijing Games four years ago, struggle to push his way up from 10th place.On the women's side, Lee Korzits starts the day's races in 2nd place, having taken 1st and 3rd, respectively, in the opening two windsurfing races.Click for full JPost coverage
