After her collegiate career ended unexpectedly early with the University of Maryland's loss to Ole Miss in the second round of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship, Shay Doron has her eyes set on making the WNBA. While Doron reported that she is trying to take things one step at a time, she has her sights set on the WNBA Draft, which will be held April 4. Looking back on her college career, Doron noted that her proudest accomplishment was "being a part of bringing Maryland back to being a national powerhouse and, of course, winning our first national championship." That 2006 title will undoubtedly be the trademark of her time playing for the Terrapins. In addition to that title, Doron comes away with three All-ACC selections, and Maryland's all-time record in free throw shooting. Doron does not have any immediate plans to return to Israel. While she hopes to make a short return to Israel at some point, she has put off any thought about where to live until after the WNBA Draft is completed. Doron has maintained close ties with other Israeli athletes who are playing basketball at American universities. Due to Maryland's early exit from the NCAA tournament, Doron and her family will actually be hosting two other Israelis for seder on the first night of Passover. Despite a decorated career, Doron seems ready to officially put college basketball behind her. Commenting on the remaining teams in the NCAA tournament, Doron said, "I don't think I will be able to sit and watch the games. "It will definitely be too hard, but I will keep updated on who wins."
