Europe's finest windsurfers made their final preparations for the European Championships off the Tel Aviv beach yesterday. The surfers will compete in a practice race on Saturday, with the championships to get officially underway on Sunday. The competition will continue throughout the week, with the medal races to take place next Saturday. Some 85 racers from 19 countries will be vying for the medals. Israel's Shahar Zubari, the Beijing Olympics bronze medalist, is one of the favorites, with the silver medalist from China, Julien Bontemps from France, and last year's European Champion from Portugal, Joao Rodrigues, his main rivals.
