National Hotel Restaurant
Although the National Hotel is best known for its exceptional service, the restaurant on the fourth floor is memorable too. The windows all round offer amazing panoramic views and ensure that lots of light streams in. In addition to the view, diners and those at the bar can take in the beautiful surrounding balcony, which is filled with hanging plants. The food is caringly prepared and elegantly presented.

Al Ma’amal Foundation
The Al Ma’amal Foundation was established in 1998 to make, promote and disseminate the best in contemporary Palestinian art. Found in the alleyways of the Old City, the Al Ma’amal Gallery – the first independent gallery in east Jerusalem – houses relevant exhibitions that are changed on a regular basis. It also offers dynamic seminars, workshops (Al Ma’amal is an Arabic word meaning workshop or small factory), residencies and educational outreach programs.

Lovers of archaeology and history should not miss out on a trip to the Rockefeller Archaeological Museum. The Museum houses a collection of important antiquities discovered in the Holy Land during the British Mandate period and is testament to the wealth of civilizations that played a role in the history and prehistory of the land. The artifacts are displayed chronologically with the oldest dating back two million years, and include original 8th-century wooden panels from the al-Aqsa Mosque and 12th-century marble lintels from the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.

Azzahra Restaurant
Although the charming family-run Azzahra Hotel may be difficult to find (off the street, down a little alley), you will be glad you made the effort. The hotel’s lobby is inviting and designed in a Middle Eastern manner, and the restaurant is spacious with a lovely airy indoor section and outdoor garden.
Azzahra restaurant specializes in traditional Arabic, French and Italian cuisine and in particular is known for the home-made Middle Eastern dishes as well as authentic thin crust pizzas made in a special pizza oven imported from Italy.
