Purim Carnival at Mamilla Take a stroll through
Alrov Mamilla Avenue
for some
mesmerizing Purim-themed entertainment with a stunning exhibition with
the theme: "Humor and Satire" as well as lots of dance, fire juggling,
stilt walking,
colorful costumed characters and masquerading. One of the highlights is
expected
to be the fire-eating and circus acrobatics at noon each day (at the
amphitheater on Sunday and the entrance near King Solomon Street on
Monday).
Kids can get their face painted for a nominal fee or can play for hours
with
thousands of Lego blocks (indoor mall, second floor). Those who arrive
in fancy
dress can have their photo taken and made into a magnet for
free.

Purim Festivities at the Israel MuseumKids
will love the creative and colorful activities on offer at the
Israel Museum
this
Purim. In addition to a recycling hat-making workshop, there will be a
related song and storytelling session in the Illustration Library by Israeli
musician Shulamit Dvir,who will play with books and hats while singing, laughing
and playing musical instruments.
On Monday, Shushan Purim, things really
heat up with juggling, acrobatics and trapeze by Cirque No Problem; a street
party featuring street theater group Nurit Katzir Center and music by DJ Darnell.
On Monday, there will also be a mask and noisemaker workshop in the Youth Wing
classrooms (ages 6 and up).

Purim Happening at Safra Square This
Shushan Purim, head to
Safra Square for an afternoon of magnificent arts,
culture and festivities geared to families and children. The line-up will
include several theater troupes as well as Irish step, Flamenco dance, and Purim
costume contests.Activities and attractions all take place on the municipality's
open courtyard area at Safra Square, and best of all, the
event is
free.

Purim at the Tower of David Children (ages 5-10) can enjoy
a theatrical tour at the
Tower of David entitled "The Same Lady in a Different
Disguise" that celebrates the idea of costume during Purim but combines it
cleverly with the history of Jerusalem. The original way this is done is via a
fortress "fortified" with various eras, each portrayed through a different
cloak. Using the Purim theme of dress up and disguise, the period gowns, suits
and hats allow you to "travel through time". Or, children can get involved in
workshops on mask design, building 3D castles and on drawing Jerusalem cartoons
and caricatures. There will also be a musical masked ball on the Friday before
Purim featuring songs from musical productions, films and operas. The ever-
popular
Night Spectacular will take place at a reduced fee of NIS
40.

Museum
of Italian Jewish Art is offering a host of activities suitable for parents and
children, such as a humorous children's play "Harlequin's Treasure Hunt" (in
Hebrew) by the Psik Theater (suitable for ages 4-10) in the style of Commedia
dell'Arte. There will also be a screening of the animated film "Pulcinella" and
a Purim surprise especially for children. The slightly older members of the
family may appreciate
"A Walk with Esther" exhibit in honor of Purim. You'll
feel as if you're truly within the Scroll of Esther with stunningly decorated
and rare Megillot Esther (Scrolls of Esther) from Venice and Northern Italy.
Enlarged digital images of the gorgeous illustrations add to the experience.
