Egypt's former prime minister Hesham Qandil was arrested while trying to make his way to Sudan, a source at the Egyptian Interior Ministry said on Tuesday.
Qandil, who was the prime minister under ousted president Mohammad Morsi, was wanted by the authorities after he was sentenced to a year in prison for not adhering to a court ruling.
The source said Qandil has been hiding in an apartment in Giza.
