Israeli water technology Netafim is will soon launch the final version of its agricultural management software – uManage – following a year of beta trial runs in Israel and around the world, the company announced on Sunday. The uManage software is a real-time crop management decision support system, which helps farmers ensure precise fertilization, optimize resource use and control their irrigation processes, according to the company.

The farmers are also able to use the software to analyze other factors affecting crops, like wind, temperature, radiation and humidity.

During the beta tests over the past year, the Netafim found that farmers were able to save about 30 percent in their water consumption and 15% in their fertilizer use by implementing the new management system, the firm said.

The system will also soon receive an additional upgrade, which will advise farmers whether they should prioritize existing fields in their possession, and taking into account future parameters such as weather forecasts, explained Lior Doron, crop management technology director at Netafim. "In effect, the system will optimize the decision-making process of the farmer," Doron said.
