An Iranian official denied Monday a report claiming that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is examining the option of setting up a permanent office in Tehran.

Iran's Fars News Agency quoted Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi as saying, “This subject does not have a correct basis because neither has the IAEA asked for it, nor have we negotiated with the IAEA in this regard."

Kamalvandi's comments came in response to a Reuters report on Sunday that facing an expanded role as a result of the Nov. 24 nuclear accord between Iran and world powers, the IAEA is likely to need more inspectors in Iran and is also examining whether to set up a small office there.
