As peace talks have come to a halt, the US remains firm in its stand that Israel and the Palestinians must "make the choices necessary if they want to resume discussions," State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said on Wednesday.

Psaki said that while US Secretary of State John Kerry was busy with issues "from Ukraine to South Sudan," the US was still engaged with the sides was waiting for them to take the steps needed to restart negotiations.

During a meeting of the Middle East Quartet on Wednesday in Brussels, US envoy Martin Indyk discussed the current situation and consulted with representatives from the international foursome on efforts to urge the sides to propose new initiatives for the stagnant process, Psaki said during her daily press briefing.
