Otzma Eilat has dropped three games in a row, 23-17 to the Dawgs (Shfela) and a Friday doubleheader to the Galil "Golan Plastic Products" Twisters: 20-4 and 22-11.

The Twisters also downed the Dawgs 16-12, while the Dimona Mean Judeans ran past Zion Tours 14-2 and Penticon (Ra'anana) tamed the Tigers of Tel Aviv 14-8. Shimshon Hi Tech of Beit Shemesh held on for a 16-14 win over Crazy Richard (Tel Aviv).

In the women's league, ISP Tel Aviv defeated the Beit Shemesh Fireballs 17-12.

With their win over Eilat, the Dawgs are now playing .500 ball later into the season than they ever have before. Eilat's top three pitchers were unavailable and the hitters had a field day.

Michael Moronov's inside-the-park-homer, and power hitting by Alberto Tascher and Jeff Weiner led the way as the Dawgs erased a 9-8 Eilat lead with 15 runs in the final two innings.

The explosive Galil "Golan Plastic Products" Twisters offense showed no mercy on the weak Eilat pitching, taking a Friday doubleheader 20-4 and 22-11. In the first game, pitchers Bill Arscott and Shlomi Dahan combined to allow only two earned runs, seven hits and no walks. The Northerners scored 12 runs in the 1st two innings, with Micah Winston's basesloaded triple capping the eight-run 2nd.

In the 2nd game, Eilat pitchers walked 15 Twisters and their tired defense, which had no subs available, played sloppy ball.

In a marathon 2 1 /2 hour game, the Twisters scored three runs in four different innings against the Dawgs' usually-effective Yehezkel Ganz.

Dimona whips Zion Tours

Zion Tours risked a loss by starting Noam Zwilling as pitcher for development purposes. Zwilling, who has lots of speed but also has control issues, is improving, and coach Richard Duffy saw it as an investment for the future. The majority of Dimona's 14 runs scored on walks and wild pitches as pitcher Yaron Ben Israel kept the Zion Tours bats in check.

Shimshon Hi Tech edges Crazy Richard

Crazy Richard's Bruce Maddy Weitzman made an emergency start and Shimshon Hi Tech scored five in the top of the 1st en route to a 16-14 win.

Crazy Richard fought its way back, thanks to the hot bat of Amit Megiddo, who hit a shot to the left field corner for a two-run homer in the second inning and followed that with a bases clearing triple. With the lead changing hands several times, Shalom Menorah was called in to relieve starting pitcher Gadi Bossin in the 5th and protect the lead.
