A group of PA-affiliated Fatah activists plotted to assassinate Prime Minister Ehud Olmert during a trip to Jericho to meet with PA President Mahmoud Abbas on August 6, Israel Radio quoted the Shin Bet as saying.

According to the report, Israel transferred the details of the plot to the Palestinian Authority, which promptly arrested the suspects.

Now, however, the PA has released them, Israel Radio reported, and Israel has voiced its extreme displeasure at the move.
