Hamas fired 19 rockets at southern Israel on Sunday. One struck the yard of a home in Ashdod and caused two shrapnel injuries.

A man and woman sustained light wounds and were evacuated to hospital, and several people were treated by paramedics for shock.

During the late afternoon, after Hamas announced its own cease-fire, Netivot and the Sdot Negev region were targeted by rockets that hit in open areas, causing no injuries or damage.

Earlier on Sunday, two rockets were fired at Ashkelon. One projectile struck within city limits, damaging a structure and sending a woman into shock. The second rocket fell in an open area outside the city.

Thirteen of the 19 rockets struck in the Lachish region and 6 across the Negev. Three people were lightly wounded, including the two shrapnel victims in Ashdod, and 15 were treated for shock. The warning siren failed to go off before the attack, and residents were unable to seek shelter.

Meanwhile, local authorities announced a gradual return to school for week. In Beersheba, 11th- and 12th-graders will resume preparations for matriculation exams on Monday, and city officials will decide on Monday evening when younger students will return to class.

The Eshkol Regional Council said elementary and high school pupils would resume their studies on Tuesday.
