The Bnai Zion Medical Center has a long history of service to the people of Israel. Formerly the Rothschild Hospital, it was renamed the Bnai Zion Medical Center in 1988 to honor the ongoing support of the Bnai Zion Foundation.

Located on Haifa's Mt. Carmel, overlooking Israel's third largest city and main seaport, the hospital is dangerously vulnerable to terror rocket attacks from southern Lebanon. During the war in 2006, the hospital suffered damage, thus underscoring the critical requirement for the facility to be protected. Immediate need is to transform an underground parking garage into a fully-equipped emergency center protected from nuclear, biological, and chemical attack. This project is not subsidized by the Government of Israel.

The unique diversity of the population of Haifa and Northern Israel is mirrored in the hospital's staff, which treats every patient without regard to religion or ethnicity.

Bnai Zion is affiliated with the B. Rappaport Faculty of Medicine at the Technion, and serves as a teaching hospital for its students. Many of the hospital's senior physicians and department heads are on faculty of the Technion, and are involved with its crucial medical research.

RELATED

In order for Bnai Zion to continue at the apex of medical care, advanced medical equipment must be acquired, departments and facilities must be enlarged and renovated. Most of these improvements are not funded by the Israeli Government.

Friends of Bnai Zion Medical Center was established in 1982 to help keep Bnai Zion on the cutting edge of medical care, by raising needed funds to equip the hospital with the most advanced medical equipment and technology.
