Police on Thursday noted a rise in violent attacks during soccer games around the country since the start of 2009.

"I'm worried by number of violent incidents at sporting facilities, of attacks on fans, attacks on players, incidents of rock throwing, public disturbances and more," said Israel Police Operations Branch Head, Cmdr. Bentsi Sao, during a meeting with senior police officials.

Sao called for tough enforcement around stadiums, as well as the banning of troublemakers from sporting arenas. Banned individuals would have to
report to police stations periodically, Sao added.
