Three days after announcing his decision to withdraw from the Palestinian Authority presidential race, PA President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday evening told his supporters that while it appears Israel does not want peace, the Palestinian people should continue to believe in peace.
"It appears they do not want peace, do not want to stop settlement construction and do not want the vision of two-states, so I don't know what they want," Abbas told a crowd of his supporters in Bethlehem, according to Reuters.
However, he reportedly went on to say that "We must remain believers in peace."
