The Canadian Jewish Congress is one of the main lobby groups for the Jewish community in the country, although it often competes with the more conservative B'nai Brith Canada in that regard. At present, the presidents of the CJC is Mark Freiman. Its past co-presidents are Sylvain Abitbol and Rabbi Dr. Reuven Bulka and its chief executive officer is Bernie Farber. As a result of a reorganization in 2007, the CJC is composed of individual members rather than affiliate organizations.
