David Ferrer Ern (born April 2, 1982 in Jávea/Xàbia) is a Spanish professional tennis player who lives in Valencia, Spain. He turned professional in 2000. Ferrer is known as a clay court specialist although he has had success on hard courts as well, especially his back-to-back semi-final appearances at the NASDAQ-100 Open in 2005–2006 and his semi-final appearance at the 2007 US Open. He was part of the Spain Davis Cup team that won the finals in 2008 and 2009. He first achieved a top-10 ranking in 2006. His highest ranking of 4 was reached on February 25, 2008.
