Debbie Wasserman Schultz (born September 27, 1966) is a Florida Democrat elected to the United States House of Representatives in 2004, representing Florida's 20th congressional district. The district includes portions of Broward and Miami-Dade counties. She was born in Forest Hills, Queens in New York City and grew up on Long Island. She currently lives in Weston outside Fort Lauderdale. She is a mother of three and is married to Steve Schultz. She endorsed Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton for her party's 2008 presidential nomination. Once Senator Barack Obama became the presumptive Democratic nominee, she endorsed him and seconded his nomination at the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Wasserman Schultz is pro-choice, pro-gun control and pro-gay rights, and an active member of the National Jewish Democratic Council, Planned Parenthood and Hadassah.
