By Wikipedia Fulgencio Batista y Zaldívar (January 16, 1901 – August 6, 1973) was a U.S. -backed Cuban military leader, President and dictator. He served as the leader of Cuba from 1933–1944, and 1952–1959, before being overthrown as a result of the Cuban Revolution.
