George Habash also known by his laqab "al-Hakim" (August 2, 1926 – January 26, 2008) was a Palestinian nationalist. Habash, a Palestinian Christian, founded the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, which pioneered the hijacking of airplanes as a Middle East militant tactic. Habash served as Secretary-General of the Palestine Front until 2000, when ill-health forced him to resign. He died in Amman, Jordan in 2008.
