Some 30 professional dancers from all over the world will descend on the Batsheva Dance Company studio in Tel Aviv's Suzanne Dellal Center for a 12-day workshop from July 13-25 devoted to Ohad Naharin's GaGa dance language. Naharin and other dancers will lead the workshop in which participants will take daily classes, learn the methodology and try the movement, dancing some of Naharin's GaGa works.
GaGa is a movement theory that seeks to integrate body and mind in terms of near total sense-awareness, and the body's ability to translate this not only into movement, but into a heightened state of being.
From Batsheva, GaGa has spread to dance departments, youth centers and high schools all over Israel, as well as to the US, Japan and Europe. This summer, for instance, there's a GaGa course at the Mikhail Baryshnikov Studio in NY, and in the fall, they'll be teaching GaGa at a major dance academy in Switzerland.
