It looks as if Aki Avni and Sandy Bar may have finally gotten their Hollywood break. The two have been signed for David Mamet's television series The Unit, a show about a special forces United Nations team

AFTER SUCCEEDING Yael Bar Zohar as the female model heading the Fox advertising campaign, Esti Ginzburg has gone on to model for some of the leading international fashion houses. But the real feather in her cap was when she became a cover model for the prestigious French magazine Elle, which declared her to be the most promising young discovery in the world of fashion. Ginzburg still has a little catching up to do with fellow model Bar Rafaeli, the first Israeli to ever be featured in Sports Illustrated. The magazine was so enamored with Rafaeli that it has just given her a second round of exposure. SOME 15 months have passed since singer and actress Sharon Haziz disclosed that she had breast cancer. Haziz, who decided to make her condition public so as to alert other women to the need for regular check-ups, has put in appearances at cancer awareness events, but put her career on hold while undergoing chemotherapy. Now restored to health, Haziz is itching to return to the performance circuit and is preparing a new show. She has also written a number of songs and has begun working on a new album. RETIRED SOCCER star, Haim Revivo, who discovered when competing in Dancing with the Stars that he's almost as good on the dance floor as on the soccer field, will put his new-found talent to use by promoting the new Fashion Avenue at the Ashdod City Mall, of which he is a part owner. Revivo and dancer Masha Troyanski will dance the rumba, cha-cha and salsa at the actual launch. Meanwhile, they've made a video and posed for photographs to be used on billboards and in newspaper advertisements. ON THE subject of dancing, television personality Tzofit Grant didn't want to miss a beat at her son's bar mitzvah. She enrolled at the Kudo Dance Studio in Givatayim where her son Daniel has been a student for the past two years. Mama decided to surprise her son by producing a video in which she engaged in a spirited dance with some of the dancers in his group. Most 13 year olds might be embarrassed by such a display, but Daniel is used to his mother doing and saying things which, to put it mildly, are somewhat off the wall. IF ALL goes well, former MK Inbal Gavrieli and her soccer star husband, Maccabi Netanya Captain Liran Strauber, will this week celebrate the brit mila of their first-born son, who arrived last week at Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer. Mother and baby were reported to be doing fine. It will be interesting to see if President Moshe Katsav, who is on close terms with the Gavrieli family, will be present at the festivities. Katsav has a celebration of his own to attend. Last week, he became an uncle again. One of his younger brothers Yoram, and sister-in-law Hagit, presented him with a new nephew and asked him to be the sandek (godfather). It looks as if Aki Avni and Sandy Bar may have finally gotten their Hollywood break. The two have been signed for David Mamet's television series The Unit, a show about a special forces United Nations team. This is the first time in seven years that Avni and Bar have been contracted for the same production. The last time was in the children's show Hasamba. In the interim each has had small roles in a handful of American productions, and have continued from time to time to appear in Israeli productions and commercials.
