Israel film wins first prize at Munich festival

An Israeli film has won first prize at the Munich Film Festival in the category of foreign movies, Israel Radio reported. Bikur Hatizmoret (The Band's Visit), a comic drama about an official visit by an Egyptian police band to Israel in the 1990s, has already won three prizes at the Cannes Film Festival. The Band's Visit was written and directed by Israeli filmmaker Eran Kolirin. 12,000€ will be awarded to the film's producers in an awards ceremony on Friday night. The festival is Germany second largest after the Berlin Festival.
