Israelis are now doing stand-up in English at the Off The Wall Comedy Basement. You probably don't understand them in Hebrew, and you still might not get them in English - but funny is funny and these guys deliver. The evening is to be headlined by Alon Nahari the Third, a veteran of the local comedy circuit. Having spent many years doing stand-up at Tel Aviv's premier avant-garde venue, Tzavta , Nahari has performed with comedians including Adi Ashkenazi and Adir Miller. He was also a participant on Project Bip, appearing alongside the emerging comedic genius of Asi Gal and comedy trio Hamlalo. Also, the writer/actor/broadcaster Yossi Tarablus, will don his comedian's cap and take the stage. Having racked up numerous appearances on Israeli TV, on programs such as All Night with Asaf Harel, Pini the Great and Yair Lapid, you probably already know who this man is and most likely have heard him before. David Kilimnick, who has been referred to by The Jerusalem Post as the "father of Anglo-comedy" will MC the evenings show. Entrance to the show costs NIS 35 with a NIS 5 discount for students, soldiers, seniors and veteran immigrants plus a NIS 15 drink minimum. Off The Wall Comedy Basement is located at 34 Ben Yehuda Street and more information may be had by calling (02) 624-3218 or visiting israelcomedy.com.
