The Journalist and the Jihadi, the well-received US-made documentary about Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, will air tonight on YES Docu at 10 p.m. Narrated by CNN international affairs correspondent Christiane Amanpour, the 90-minute film examines similarities and the defining differences in the lives of the Jewish-American journalist and Omar Sheikh, the radical Muslim ringleader behind Pearl's 2002 murder in Pakistan. Both men, the film notes, were the well-educated children of immigrants, with Pearl choosing to embrace humanism and human rights and the British-Pakistani Sheikh growing increasingly violent in his embrace of Islam. The documentary, which was screened at last year's Tribeca International Film Festival and on HBO, is being promoted in Israel by Pearl's parents, Judea and Ruth Pearl.
