Al Foster, the legendary jazz drummer who played regularly with Miles Davis, is coming to Israel at the end of this month to play five shows. He will bring his New York-based band with him: pianist Benito Gonzalez, bassist Doug Weiss and Israeli saxophonist Eli Degibri. They will play songs from their new album, Love, Peace and Jazz, along with some of their earlier work, and pieces by the jazz greats. Aside from Davis, Foster also played with Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock and Joe Henderson, among others. He participated on over 288 albums, and Yamaha even named a drum set after him. Davis was quoted as once saying: "For what I wanted in a drummer, Al Foster had all of it." The quartet will play in Tel Aviv (at Levontin 7, 03-767-4646), Herzliya (at Zappa, 03-767-4646) and Jerusalem (at the Yellow Submarine, 02-679-4040). Tickets range from NIS 80 to NIS 135.
