Desert festival before the 'stars'

The 6th annual festival will take full advantage of the region's dramatic natural landscape, with performances being staged at the Sdom River and atop Masada, among other picturesque locales.

Next week's Tamar Festival will feature almost as many stars as desert sky, with musical luminaries including Yehuda Polikar, David Broza and Berry Sakharof scheduled to perform at the October 18-23 event. The sixth annual festival will take full advantage of the region's dramatic natural landscape, with performances being staged at the Sdom River and atop Masada, among other picturesque locales. Bright young stars appearing at the event include Arkady Duchin, Idan Raichel, Miri Mesika and members of Metropolin, as well as longtime favorites Aviv Geffen and Eviatar and Ehud Banai. The Succot festival's impressive program also includes desert tours, an outdoor market and a moonlight hike along a dry river bed.
