Peter Hammill announces tour

Hammill, the singer-songwriter who started out in the '70s in the progressive rock band Van der Graaf Generator, will make his fifth appearance in Israel.

Just because the summer concert season is over doesn't mean that the international stars have stopped arriving. Peter Hammill has announced his intentions to visit the country, and Rufus Wainwright and Laurie Anderson have added additional dates to their stops here. Hammill, the singer-songwriter who started out in the '70s in the progressive rock band Van der Graaf Generator, will make his fifth appearance in Israel on December 2. He'll play at Reading 3 at the Tel Aviv port, with tickets running NIS 220-270. In addition to the 26 albums he has released, Hammill has written music for ballet, film and television. His live shows are renowned for their spontaneity and improvisation. His Israel performance will be a "best-of" solo outing on piano. Meanwhile, Wainwright and experimental musician Anderson will appear at the same venue as Hammill - Wainwright at the end of November and Anderson at the start. Tickets for all three artists are available through Castel (*8965).
