In preparation for Thursday night's Paul McCartney show in Tel Aviv's Hayarkon Park, police have released a list of traffic adjustments, changes to bus and train routes and a request to the public to help ensure that one of the biggest musical acts ever to hit Israel goes off without a hitch. "What's important is that people use public transportation as much as possible," Tel Aviv Police spokesman Benny Telles said. "Use trains and buses, and we're also asking that people don't show up en mass at the last minute. Otherwise, we're looking at this much like the Avoda Ivrit show in Tel Aviv a few months ago - we're expecting everything to be fine." To maintain order among the expected 40,000 attendees, Tel Aviv police have released the following information:
  • Those who plan on coming to the show by train should disembark at the Tel Aviv University Station.
  • Those who take Dan Bus lines 21, 27, 28, 47, 48, 113 and 247 should disembark on Sderot Rokach.
  • For Dan lines 40, 42, 52, 57, 67, and 92, disembark at the Ramat Gan Mall/National Stadium.
  • For Egged lines 74, 86, 274, 605, 702, 830, 835, 842, and 900, disembark at on Derech Haifa.
  • Those coming by car from the north are asked to arrive via the intersection of Derech Namir and Sderot Rokach, and park at Reading station.
  • Cars arriving from the south via the Ayalon Highway are asked to go to the Rokach interchange and follow police instructions to the "Drive-In" parking lot.
  • Cars arriving via Sderot Rokach should turn into a parking lot at either Ganei Yehoshua-The Tel Aviv Fairgrounds, the Sportek center or Reading.
  • Cars coming from Ramat Gan and Bnei Brak are asked to park at the National Stadium in Ramat Gan.
  • Drivers not attending the show are asked to avoid Rokach, Sheetrit, and Bnei Efraim streets. Those driving to the north of the city are asked to use the Ayalon Highway until the KKL (Keren Kayemet LeYisrael) interchange.
  • Those driving out of Tel Aviv to the north are asked to use Road 6. Anyone leaving Tel Aviv is asked to use Sderot Namir until the Glilot junction, and from there, Road 2 or 5. During the performance:
  • The Ayalon's exit lanes to Sderot Rokach from the south will be closed, and traffic will be diverted to the KKL interchange.
  • Derech Namir will be closed and no traffic will be allowed from the east.
  • Sheetrit and Rokach junctions will be closed and traffic will be detoured to alternate roads.
  • At the show's end, at approximately 10:30 p.m, Rokach will be blocked off to eastbound traffic. Cars will be detoured to the Ayalon, Namir, and KKL. Westbound traffic will be detoured from Rokach to Bnei Efraim and from there to the Ayalon Highway.
