Hatser Kinneret is marketing a variety of sauces based on date juice, which makes them appropriate for use during the holidays. The four different varieties are sweet and spicy, sweet and sour, grill, and garlic-chili. The sauces can be used to marinate meat, chicken, or fish, or can be used as salad dressing; a 350 gr. jar is NIS 14. Smooze is the name of tropical-flavored coconut-milk drinks already popular in the US and Europe. Smooze coconut drinks come from Indonesia, and are mixed with exotic fruit juices such as passion fruit, mango, pineapple, and guava. A 250 ml. carton is NIS 8-9, and a one-liter carton is NIS 15. Osem is tuned in to the trend of healthier foods, and is now offering chicken soup and garlic-parsley herbs containing only natural ingredients. The chicken soup powder is NIS 17.90 for 400 gr., and the garlic-parsley is NIS 10 for a package containing eight sachets. Also part of the health trend are the new whole wheat penne rigate pasta and whole wheat spaghetti (NIS 7.75), whole wheat bread crumbs (NIS 5.5), whole wheat couscous (NIS 6.65), and whole wheat self-raising flour (NIS 8.5). Olivia has new vinaigrette salad dressings with European flavorings. The Mediterranean vinaigrette is based on olive oil, lemon, and herbs, the Tuscan vinaigrette is based on balsamic vinegar and olive oil, and the Balkan vinaigrette is based on white wine vinegar, olive oil, and herbs. A 290 ml. bottle is NIS 11. Especially for the holiday season, Zera Genetics is marketing yellow-orange cherry tomatoes, which have a sweeter taste than the regular red cherry tomatoes. The tomatoes have a higher concentration of sugar, and of Vitamin A and C. It's good news for those who have to watch their blood pressure that Tnuva now has salt-free cream cheese, especially since it is recommended for people who suffer from hypertension to eat three servings of low-fat milk products a day (milk, yogurt, or two spoons of white cheese, for example). A 250 gr. container of Tnuva's salt-free white cheese is NIS 5.5. Bet Hashita has sweet and sour pickles, available for a limited period only. The pickles are made from small cucumbers, and come in a glass jar that can easily be resealed; a jar containing 16 to 21 pickles is NIS 9.90. To make preparation of fish dishes easier, Densher has herbs suitable for all kinds of fish dishes, packed in a pyramid shaped container; a 50 gr. container is NIS 9.
